Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong Limited (CASH) was incorporated in Hong Kong on 23 September 1977 under the Companies Ordinance, as a Company Limited by Guarantee and not having a share capital. It began operation on 1 October 1977.

The ‘2024 CASH Annual Dinner cum Golden Sail Music Awards Presentation’ was successfully held on 5 November 2024 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. Nearly 800 guests including friends from the music industry, honourable guests from government officials and business sectors, as well as our clients and members to support the talk of the town event.
The following awards were presented, namely: ‘Best Melody’, ‘Best Lyrics’, ‘Best Arrangement’, ‘Best Vocal Collaborations’, ‘Best Performance by a Band’, ‘Best Vocal Performance by a Female Artist’, and ‘Best Vocal Performance by a Male Artist’, ‘Best Serious Composition’, ‘Best Young Composer’s Serious Composition’ and ‘CASH Best Song’.
Besides, renowned lyricist Mr Poon Wai Yuen and serious music composer Prof. David Gwilt were presented ‘CASH Hall of Fame Awards 2024’ respectively in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the music industry.

The Society welcomed the delegation of National Copyright Administration Representative of PRC on 15 October 2024 for discussion on effective cooperation, exchange, and development of the music copyright protection, and sharing of the Society’s copyright collective management system technology.

Organised by the Music Copyright Society of China (MCSC), Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong Limited (CASH), and Macao Association of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (MACA), with the support of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC), the ‘2nd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Collective Management of Copyright in Music Works Forum’ was successfully held on 10 October 2024, at the Galaxy International Convention Center in Macau.
This year’s forum consisted of several sessions, including the opening ceremony, the premiere of “Copyright Ignites Creativity”, the release of the report on the protection of music copyrights in audiovisual works, keynote speeches, and panel discussions. It gathered government and association representatives from the three regions, as well as representatives from international organisations, legal professionals, musicians, university professors and scholars, representatives from the education sector, music users, and industry figures, with approximately 150 guests attending the event.
The forum successfully facilitated discussions on establishing a cooperative framework in the Greater Bay Area to enhance the protection of creators and address the challenges and opportunities in the age of artificial intelligence and the internet. It also effectively promoted cooperation, exchange, and development among the music copyright collective management organisations of the three regions.
‘The 22nd CASH Golden Sail Music Awards’ press conference was held on 16 October. The Society revealed the finalists of ‘The 22nd CASH Golden Sail Music Awards’ and presented the ‘2023 CASH Golden Sail Most Performed Works Awards’.
The prestigious CASH Hall of Fame Awards 2024 will be presented to renowned lyricist Poon WI Yuen and serious music composer Professor David Gwilt respectively in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the music industry.
The 2024 CASH Award Dinner cum Golden Sail Music Awards Presentation will be held on November 5 (Tuesday) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. Presentations of the CASH Hall of Fame Award 2024 along with other CASH Golden Sail Music awards will be conducted to recognise the efforts of musicians over the past year. This event also serves as an opportunity to promote communication and collaboration within the music industry, further advancing the music creation industry in Hong Kong.
